the countdown begins

Two short weeks left before we kick things off for the 2014-15 school year!  We're excited about getting everyone back together at practice, our favorite part of every day!

Some important dates to note:
*Thursday, August 14th is the date freshman can (and should) move in.  Of course, if you're attending one of the last two FASET sessions, you will move into your school year housing assignment early when you arrive for the orientation.
*Saturday, August 16th is the date upperclassmen can move into on-campus housing without an early move-in charge of $75/night.
*Sunday, August 17th will be a busy day...physicals in the morning, squeeze in a run sometime (probably should plan on going longer on Saturday), compliance meeting and team meeting in the late afternoon.  Freshmen will also have an academic orientation in the early afternoon, as well as freshmen convocation in the late afternoon if possible.

Hopefully, the compliance office will email you soon with the compliance paperwork now online so that you can fill out the necessary forms prior to the compliance meeting.

And plan on a blood test in the early morning sometime during the first two days of class.

AND THEN, practice will officially begin on Tuesday morning, August 19th.

Oh, did I mention classes begin...

Enjoy these last two weeks :)

  1. Ran a great 63 miles last week at Hilton Head Island last week. An escape from the hills in Virginia was nice, but I'm glad to be home. Looking forward to meeting the team soon.

  2. Fiddy miles wit a day off to travel up to VA Beach (the greatest part of Virginia, Ryan). Had a not so great long run last Sunday and a lackluster 9 miles Wednesday, I blame the heat and exams last week. Looking forward to the next 2 weeks training at altitude in the mountains of Virginia Beach (jokes)

  5. 69 miles this past week. The weather seems to be pretty fair and the humidity/temps are low up in Pickens. I'm headed to Texas this week, so I'm sure the opposite will be there.

  7. 50 miles! Ran kennesaw again this morning with Hayley K - tripped and fell flat on my face, with a nice big bruise and cut on my hip to prove it. Those sneaky roots...

Also I'm really excited to be back with everyone! A complicated series of events led to Diana, Paige, Rachel, Erin and I running together the other day and it felt just like practice. Made me realize how much I miss everyone! See y'all so soon :)

  11. 29. Minor(ish) quad issues late last week and early this week. I didn't push it, just being conservative right now. Trying to be fast in February, not August. I'll probably start workouts the week school starts, maybe a group back at first. In other news, I am about to finish up work and head out to Hawaii (shoutout to SRob) for 9 days before school starts. I'm hoping to get some good runs in, among other things.

Ayyoo to Justin, the weather man, for a solid 69er.

  14. 64 英里, մղոն , Meilen , Mílte, millas , mijlen, miles!

Had strong workouts and felt great, ayyyy oooo Justin!

I'm still doing a lot of mileage on soft trail to decrease the impact, going to miss it in 12 days in the concrete jungle!

Things I'm not going to miss: German nuns yelling at me while I'm running, seeing cow tongues in the grocery stores, the sun rising before 5am, and nettles...the European poison ivy (#1 enemy of the trail runner).

See you all very soon!!! :)

  15. AAAAYYYYYOOOOOO

51 in 5, Trans-Atlantic travel made me miss an unplanned day.

The rolling hills of Southeastern PA were a shock to the system, but at least here I can ditch my burqa and run shirtless without fear. We truly live in the land of the free.

  17. 43 miles in 5.
Had to take Thursday off unexpectedly due to a sudden move out of my house, but I got every other day in. CANNOT wait for school to start because my internship sucks so incredibly much. Staring at a computer for 8 hours a day is not fun. At all.

  20. 43 in 5 rough week of finals and yard work preparing for our family reunion. Workouts went well and the middle found days of the week were great it was just the other three that sucked. Hooray for two weeks of summer now!

  27. 53 miles in 6 days. Felt great going a little faster again, but the Florida humidity is killer

  28. 42 with a new long run that I think almost killed me. When we go to Kennesaw I will be the one struggling/panting/crawling all the way up the mountain...florida flat terrain-although I did find a hill the other day.

  38. 53,48,48 I was in Italy for two weeks. It was super tough to run there especially in Venice and Rome. One run I had to circle a plaza in Rome for about 25 times just to get 8 miles. But I was able to get some mileage in.
