full volume

#MTM #chopwoodcarrywater #WILDDOGS ⬈🝚x🝚 #rememberthegoal #discipline #edify

Week 7, full volume is here. Continue to adjust paces for heat and humidity, and two aerobic threshold runs (aka Ae T or easy tempo) for both Tue and Fri.  The rest of your running for the week remains easy, 60-65%.  Thursday is an important day, whether 6-8 x 60-80m hill sprints or fast strides, don't neglect this day.

Simple, but not easy.  Stay the course, be patient.

Reminder, in preparation for the next phase of training, look for an approximately 200m long hill, on the order of Tech Parkway.  Not too steep to change running form.  Just a gradual rise to work against gravity.

Reminder of important dates...

Incoming first-year/transfers: move-in Sat-Sun, August 15-16
Returning Students: return Mon-Tue, August 17-18

Physicals for new people and for returning will be Tue, Aug 18.
Year-Beginning/Team Meeting will be Wednesday, Aug 19.
First practice will be in the AM of Thursday, Aug 20

Both the team and GTAA will have functions during the following week before school starts.  Before you make any other plans for this week, make sure you clear with coaches first. If you know of any conflicts, make sure you notify coaches as soon as possible

As always, if unsure about anything, or have any questions, reach out.

63 miles. Good bounce back week after Peachtree. Had two great tempos that are building a lot of confidence, feel like I’m in a great spot! At camp now so only easy miles this week until a workout with Billy on Friday evening!

80 miles this week, feeling fantastic. Tempos are feeling super smooth and long run was great as well. Very excited to keep the wheels turning and continue to enjoy the process. Hope everyone is doing well this week!

More tired this week but solid Ae T’s. Good efforts and controlled. Hill strides and strength going well. Another week at Hume Lake, dry air and 5000ft of elevation.

32 miles - 3 miles below plan due to crazy travel delays on the way to FASET 🙄🙄 looking forward to my first full volume week!! Both tempos and long run went good :) - Addy

40 miles last week. I lowered the intensity and volume so I could avoid not making my leg feel worse and I'd say it was fine. One bonus is that I've actually been acclimating to the heat well finally. I feel a lot more comfortable in the heat now. Just unfortunate to be slipping behind in workouts and mileage but I'm playing things safe

41 this week. Feeling great got some quality Ae T’s in with Kam. Been focusing on not falling out on the habits I had in the spring with injury prevention. Looking to keep a consistent regiment through the fall.

Super excited to be cleared to start doing activity! Did 3 hrs on the recumbent bike this week!

For anyone who may be struggling with summer training or motivation as I know it can get hard in the heat and with high mileage weeks, remind yourself of how amazing it is to be able to train and run and the wonderful opportunity it is to be on the team! I find that focusing on gratitude, even in cross training when it can be extra frustrating, makes training much more exciting and rewarding :)

Matt - 80 on the week. The legs felt a little beat down though out the week but long run felt good and felt good again today. Had to remember last summer felt beat down too until I had a couple weeks of full volume under me.
