upstate

A few notes to be aware of...

1) still considering Tue workout, possibly could add a short, fairly fast effort (i.e. 600m) prior to 20' AT run.  2) those traveling to meet will run the course upon arrival in Spartanburg; if you need additional mileage on Friday you should plan to do that on your own Friday morning.  C) for October we will use the Sunday's of Oct 5 and Oct 19 for optional practices, you can miss one but not both.  4) we will set the departure time for Friday, but know that it will most likely be just after lunch and not before.

consolidation

This week it is very important to consolidate the gains made over the last few weeks, which means the mileage dips down so recovery can take place.  SO LET YOUR MILEAGE GO DOWN THIS WEEK!  With things going well, too often individuals will make decisions to keep their mileage up on the lower weeks.  The end result is that recovery doesn't happen and somewhere down the road the price is paid with illness, injury, or fatigue.  Follow your plan!  Along those lines, the 80% run on Tuesday will be a little conservative, but the Friday workout will ramp things back up.  Also, the 3000m trial effort will be Thursday this week.  Those running it will do a slightly shortened version of the 80% run on Tue and should use Wed as a recovery day similar to Sat, and should run their normal Wed on Fri instead of the workout.  Got all that :)

bread & butter

Great first week of competition! Both teams are fit and show a lot of potential.  Now it's back to work to turn potential into achievement. We'll start with our bread & butter run...the 80% effort, and finish with a good hard effort on the hills.  Remember, this Sunday will be optional for those who were at practice on Aug 31.  For those who weren't at practice on Aug 31, this Sunday is not optional.  And yes, coach has a list :)
