almost to full volume

"Most battles are won before they are fought." - Sun Tzu

Patiently building volume through the summer and training at the appropriately level is the preparation that will lead to a successful fall season.  This is the last week of just easy running and building our volume up before beginning the next phase, which will consist mostly of short fartlek-type efforts at xc distance race pace with sufficient aerobic recoveries.  Keep working to intentionally add cross-training volume, and sending pictures for the facebook summer roll call.

27 miles and 5 hours elliptical/bike/aqua-jogging last week. Long run is approaching a respectable distance for the first time in a while - got 7 wonderful, gravelly miles in at the river today. And believe it or not, gravelly is a word!

5.5 miles on the Alter-G last week at 75%. Did about 3.5 hours crosstraining (biking/elliptical). I found the entrance to a really nice trail in the next neighborhood that's awesome for biking, so definitely going to start biking more

62 miles last week with some rowing and a lot of strength work. Hip started to act up again, so I started to focus more on glute recovery and strength exercise which helped calm it down. Gotta stay focused! Started running with one of Mitchell's training buddies from last summer which has been nice. The 4th was fun, and I hope everyone had a good 4th of July holiday!

56 miles, 2 hours of biking, and several hours of hiking in the Bridger mountains. I bought some trail running shoes so I don't have to slide around on the scree in my supernovas any more!

43 miles last week with a fun Peachtree Road Race in the middle. I ran a bit shorter Tuesday so I would be relatively fresh for the Peachtree but ran on Monday to make up for it. Also had a great 10-mile long run today. Looking forward to the start of workouts!

5mi last week and lots and lots of aquajogging. Super super happy to be back on schedule this week and also my legs felt like a MILLION bucks on today's long run!

63 miles and 90' swimming. I've been really consistent with core and stability work throughout the summer, and it's definitely been getting easier.

28 miles last week with like 30 minutes of biking. Been repping my old Adidas sweatpants nearly everyday since \\\life went into effect. Runs have been lonely, but they feel good. Hamstring flared up out of the absolute blue this morning, so I might have to rearrange my mileage for the week so I can get that figured out. It's nothing major, but the timing's annoying. @williamoreilly, I'm 100% sure I saw you running the other day — do you live in the Smyrn'?

60 miles last week and an hour on the elliptical. Felt really good on a couple of runs last weeks, so hopefully I’m getting used to the weather down here, and can’t wait to be back in Atlanta. Also had a pretty good long run today, so I’m excited for this last easy week before the next phase!

50 miles and 1 hour of cycling. I'm a little short this week due to getting sick Wednesday night and taking Thursday off because of that. Besides that I had a fun time tempoing the peachtree road race and had a good long run today!

51 miles from switching my long run from Sunday to Saturday. I ran at the clay loop with my high school team and saw Samantha! Its always busy there which is really fun. I also biked for an hour and rowed for 30 minutes.

44 miles this past week and 1 hour of cross training (plus an hour of walking if that counts for anything). Been a little behind the last few weeks due to poor planning or thunderstorms. I am really going to push this week to get back on track. I had lots of fun at the Peachtree last week. As always, if anyone is around Atlanta or Marietta and wants to run together, lmk!

37 miles and 1 hour cross training (biking). I was in Philly for the 4th of July and ran a 5k that was terribly marked. (At the "1 mile" marker I was at 4:30)

39 Miles this past week with about 30 mins of swimming

6 hours biking, 1 hour swimming, and lots of core work. Couldn't get as much in this week as I wanted because I was traveling. Another MRI coming up this week or next, hoping for some good news and maybe getting to use both of my legs soon

48 miles. Had a nice 4th and then drove down to Orlando to meet up with my family for a short vacation. Fun but a little too touristy for me. Only crosstrained on Monday because of that so I gotta get back to more crosstraining, but otherwise happy with how the mileage is feeling. Keeping an eye on my shin because of past problems but that's more precautionary than something I think is actually going to be a problem.

30 last week. I've been to the chiropractor twice and my neck and back are feeling a lot better. Still a little tight, but getting there. I'll keep trying to build the mileage from here. Going back to the chiropractor again today.

Sorry, I forgot to post on last weeks blog! This past week I did 48 miles with an hour of biking and the week before 43! Hope everyone had a great fourth!!

54 miles and 1 hour 45 minutes of biking. I'm feeling good and avoiding the heat as best I can. I'm getting really excited to move down to Atlanta next month.

7 miles running last week plus fitness and 1 hour of bike and swim. Still trying to recover from what I think is an adductor muscle strain that occurred last week on my hilly long run.

36 miles. For the next two weeks I’ll be at the Brevard distance running camp so I’ll get some quality hill work in.

Just got reminded to post on this because I just completely forgot— my bad. Been cross training 1-2 hours a day, feeling pretty good. Started the elliptical 2 weeks ago finally, and this week I’ve started doing 1 mile a day 1 minute walk alternating w 1 minute run, and then I usually walk 1-2 miles before or after. My finger is almost healed so I’m able to get back in the pool which is also exciting, hopefully this is where things turn around!!

49 miles. It's supposed to be over 80 degrees in Seattle this week!

5 hours cross training last week (aquajogging/bike/elliptical) plus PT. Jenna is really hitting me with that strength work and I feel it - but I'll have a super strong core and glutes so it'll be worth it. I should get my follow up MRI results Tuesday or Wednesday, and based on the results, I'll start transitioning into running again very soon!

54 miles and 2 hours cross training. I was two miles short on Wednesday because my family has a crazy 4th of July schedule.

30 miles this past week. I apologize for not posting about the week before. Swelling from wisdom teeth removal left me unable to eat solid food for nearly a week, so my training was confined to a few days of strength training and stationary biking.

Isabella Bowland said...

I'll be at 35 mi this week. I'm backpacking from Fri-Sun, so ~ 10 hr hiking as cross training.

Elizabeth Rice said...

15 miles this past week and 7 hours of cross training (biking/aquajogging/elliptical) and strength work. Hoping to get in more mileage this week as I am beginning to regain a little bit more feeling in my left leg. Excited to slowly get back to running more!

43 for two weeks ago and 55 last week. School has been pretty tough so that has been keeping me very busy. My mom and sister came to visit and we did a lot of hiking. Back to the pool this week. Also re-read nutrient timing bc I'm tryna get GREAT

46 miles last week. My harder runs are definitely wearing me out so I'm focusing on making sure I recover well after them. I have FASET this week so I'm trying to figure out how to get some runs in since I don't know any routes up on campus yet.

Henrik Anderson said...

41 Miles last week and 47 miles this week is the goal with 2 days left. Last week I did about an hour and a half of core. I am almost completely caught up, around 2-3 days behind still.
