last week of summer break

Summer break comes to an end. Some freshmen move in early in the week to attend the last two FASET sessions. Other freshmen and a number of returnees will move in Thursday, and everyone should be back by Friday. Our first team function will be a compliance meeting at 4pm in the Technology Center on the ground floor of the AA. We'll conduct our team meeting after compliance is done, then we'll all convene for a team dinner. Everyone was emailed a list of important dates and times, so make sure you check your email.

Along with the mandatory meetings and functions, on an voluntary basis people will be getting together for the 80% run on Friday morning and then carpooling out to the river on Saturday morning for an easy recovery run.

We're excited about seeing all of you! The first day of practice can't get here quick enough :)

37. Hip flexor was bothering me again on a few of the runs, especially Sunday long run. Tempo went better this week though!

Last week 57, this week 53. It's been a pretty crappy couple of weeks, pretty worn out last week and haven't been able to throw together a good workout in a while due to heat and traveling. I've felt good towards the end of this week though, and I'm ready to get back to Tech and roll up the lake loop. The eloquently-crafted blog posts of Joe "Thunder Calves" Stowe and his aerobic cronies have kept me inspired and hungry to run at precisely 80% effort through the early morning mist.

First off, I would like to say that my last two weeks of blog post have been fails...totally off my A game haha.

51 for the week though. Pretty decent week overall. Had a really strong long run with Joe on Sunday. The 80% run was pure guenius this week. Joe Stowe, D.J., Alec, and I threw down a blazing 7 miles weaving through 18 wheeler traffic on the lake loop in 40:13 (approximately 5:44 pace).

Just alittle side note, Joe Stowe finally left for Japan Friday after the work out.

81 in 6 days. All in doubles except the long run, which was kind of quick but nothing special. Did fartlek and tempo with "Slash" "Rick James" and "ABC123". Refer to "Rick James'" post for the deets.

33 last week with 2 different A.R.T. sessions and am hoping that they helped. I caught a stomach bug, too!! Weird. I'm still trying to get rid of headaches from that (I guess from dehydration), but I'm hoping for the best week running-wise I've had in almost a month this week coming up and can't wait to move in!!!! Everyone be safe when traveling!! See you soon :)

56 miles for the week. Did a good 7mile tempo at the mountain...went ok.

On a side note...I've been working all summer to get bigger calves. Now I wasn't trying to do anything crazy, like get Joe Stowe calves or something, but you know just some bigger calves for my skinny legs.

Sad to say though...it's been an EPIC FAIL! I don't see a change at all. I'm quite disapponted.

47 miles over 6 days. Down in Florida for the week, no fun runs whatsoever due to the heat and humidity, the afternoon was a better time to run than the morning was.

47 in 6 days. Good long run and fartlek with Alec, but an average tempo. I'm definitely looking forward to the getting back to school.

Side note: Alec failed to mention that he's now a semi-pro water skier. Just a natural haha

52 miles of summer fun with my last run of the week on Friday. The 40:12 7 miler was a great way to cap off my summer running in Atlanta. I enjoyed basking in the post workout glory on my Korean Air flight for 14 hours. Took Sat and Sun off to recover from the travel which involved me walking all over Tokyo, lost at many points, with all my luggage in toe. I've had three good runs so far in Tokyo, which turned out to be a good place to run with its generously portioned sidewalks. Ran around the Imperial Palace which is less than 2 mi jog from my apartment. It's a 5k pedestrian loop which is the most popular spot for runners in Tokyo. I have managed to get lost during all three of my runs so far, so I'm getting good at asking for directions in Japanese. It's been a very productive summer in terms of training. Special thanks to Cameron and everyone else who came out such as Mark, Alec, Greer, Austen, and Dj. Definitely the best summer running schedule I have ever kept. Sad to see the last week of blog posts is here, but I'm sure I'll end up commenting on many of the workouts throughout the fall. Here are a couple pictures I took to prove I made it to Japan.
