summer roll call

*All reporting of weekly mileage should now be to the comment section of the blog.

Back again this summer is our Summer Roll Call.  What's required of you if you choose to participate is a picture of you in preferably a GT track & field or cross country shirt...though any GT shirt will do.  Try to take the picture so as to give us some context of how/where you're spending your summer break.  Text the picture to Asst Coach and it will be uploaded to the Georgia Tech Track & Field and Cross Country facebook page.  Participation is highly encouraged!

Also, if you read through last week's comments, Allison has arranged to have the ice tubs filled in the locker room training room one evening each week for those around campus who want to take advantage of this opportunity for recovery.  The latest info is that the day has been changed to Thursday evenings.  Thanks Allison!

Lastly, the USA Junior Nationals is on tap this weekend in Eugene, OR.  Melissa and Hayley K will race the 5000m on Sunday evening.  We will also be represented by two incoming freshmen...Bailey will jump Saturday late afternoon in the women's high jump and Marinice will race in the women's 400m Hurdles on Saturday afternoon.  Good luck to everyone competing!

26 miles run in 5 days. Also biked for several miles this week. Believe it or not, I've been running in the mornings. Temp is good around 9:30. Also taking advantage of resting while watching some exhilarating futbol games on the tele. GL to HayK and Melissa in Eugene!

30 this week, I'm sorry for being a little bit short. My sister went and got herself hitched this weekend in Texas and I fell on behind mileage with travel, bridesmaid duties, sobbing uncontrollably, etc.

Like the post says, the locker room will be open once a week on Thursdays starting this week. You might need to fill the ice tub yourself if you're the first on there. Text me if you have any questions/issues (7702415706). I'm assuming freshmen don't have access to the locker room but if any of you want to coordinate with me to be let in, feel free.

Missing y'all!

40 miles.

The beach is perfect for footdrills and the water perfect for a little cross training. The only issues are my porcelain skin can't handle thr oppressive Mediterranean suan and the water is saltier than Jeremy on a bad hair day. I suffer such hardships I know.

42 feeling great except for the knees. The left one I keep accidentally banging on my desk at work and the other one is still acting up after body squats so I think I'll back off on those.

Also I have a slight cold this week, so taking it easy on the effort more than usual. I had a nice long run this Sunday in some cold rain and then made pAsta sauce from vegetables I bought at the local farmer's market with some gluten free pAsta!

Good luck to our Junior National competitors! Great experience!

This Thursday I'm going to watch the Athletissima track meet in Lausanne, Switzerland (only 15 min from where I'm living)! I'll take a pic to add to the Summer Roll Call :)

Sporadic weather here in Switzerland: ☂ ☼ ☁ ☼ ☁ ☼ ☂ ☼ ☂ ☼

32 miles in 5 days last week. Both knees were hurting earlier in the week so I took extra day off. I feel good now and I ran with Mark again this Sunday with Maureen making a guest appearance for the beginning 3 miles.

Houston weather is not conducive to running to say the least. It makes Atlanta's heat and humidity seem non-existent.

43 big ones this past week. Feeling pretty good minus the best and humidity (who knew you couldn't run shirtless at a golf course let alone run period?)

0. The journey to Terra Haute started yesterday for me, with a blazing (so slow) Aqua! Peachtree 10k will be a joke, but the goal is to beat Ryan Hall to 2 miles.
Looking forward to getting into a routine this summer and putting some solid work in. p.s. Nico, I don't have bad hair days, I'm perfect

40 miles. Ran into Nahom at a park last Thursday and we chatted a bit. I'm starting to miss those ice tubs. Made my own ice bath this week, finding that 20 lbs of ice surprisingly isn't enough.

I started wearing my orthotic in my boot and it feels a lot better. I am still getting used to walking around, and I am trying to be as patient as possible. Can't wait to be back on the trails.

Good luck to everyone competing!! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEK COACH MEGESI!!!!
