summer winding down

Workouts for this week:

Tue: 5' + 4' + 3' + 2' + 1' @ ~85% effort w/ equal time recovery @ ~65%
Fri: 8-10 x 1' @ either 6k or 8k goal pace with 4' easy recovery

*make sure you are taking the full recovery and running EASY during the recovery; you can follow the structure of the above workouts, OR you can free fartlek them by just running up to one minute efforts at goal race pace followed by sufficient easy recoveries for forty minutes or more, OR you can run a hill fartlek if you have a hilly route, just run strong up the hill and again make sure you have plenty of easy recovery between.

Things to note:

The rosters on our website will be updated soon, check to make sure your info is correct.

*FRESHMEN: those attending one of the last two FASET sessions will move into your school year housing assignment early when you arrive for orientation.  Other freshmen should move in on the Wednesday, August 16th, and will incur early move-in charges from housing that will show up on your bursar's account, along with a credit from the Athletic Association to cover those charges.

*UPPERCLASSMEN: should move in on Thursday, August 17th, and those in housing will incur early move-in charges from housing that will show up on your bursar's account, along with a credit from the Athletic Association to cover those charges.

*more info will be send regarding our first team meeting, our compliance meeting, and physicals.

Most important now is that you are checking your email as you should be receiving information from compliance and the training room to fill out forms online.  It is important that everyone fill out and submit all required forms before arriving back on campus.  If you have any questions, make sure you reach out to someone to get whatever info you need!

First official practice will be 6:00 AM on Tuesday, August 22nd...P45417!

3.25 miles of swimming and 6.5 hrs of aquajogging for 52 miles equivalent. My internship's over and I'm back in Florida for the weekend because my grandpa's here from Brazil

63 miles, 2 hrs of aquajogging, 40 mins swimming, 40 mins of spinning. Summer going strong; looking to relax and have a good time in varying places around the country after my internship ends this coming week. Side note: I really really really want a piece of pizza right now

61 miles and 45 minutes of swimming for this week. Looks like they're prepping for WW3 down here, lots of jets flying over the last couple of days. It's been fun, I'll be back in Atlanta in 2 weeks. Looking forward to getting back!

The big 7-0 for miles this week along with an hour and 45 minutes of, as Jag puts it, hydrostriding. Had a very interesting long run this morning, but at the end of the day, we got it done. Word of advice: fill your gas tanks kids, preferably before you run out. On another note, words can't express how exstatic I am for the whole gang to be back together. It's like the end of every rock band movie ever, just without the singing, tour bus, instruments, and emotional roller coaster that separated them in the first place.

Logged 50 miles this past week, as well as 105min on cross trainer and 70min hydro-striding for cross training. Really looking forward to being back with everyone soon!

Had a bit of knee trouble the previous week. My right knee had been bothering me during my runs, (I think Something happened on my long run on the 16th) I had been running with it and ignoring it but then I decided to take two days off and start biking to cross train. Things seem to be all better now, and definitely have to pick back up my mileage. I had 30 miles week of July 16 and 36 miles this week. (week of July 23)

38 miles of running last week + ~20 miles of biking and ~20 miles of hiking. Mount Desert Island in Maine is gorgeous and has lots of carriage and hiking trails both in and out of Acadia NP. Unfortunately, my knee didn't enjoy the extra activity as much as I did and I'm now trying to let it recover for a few days.

Unknown said...

65 miles last week plus 1 hour of biking and 30 minutes of rowing.
Made a lamp yesterday, which was quite the experience.
@Corrie, Acadia is awesome! Hope your knee still feels good enough for Beehive.

40 miles in 5 days last week. 41 in 5 this week. No workouts yet, and I've had some soreness in the arch of one of my feet (hence the extra days off). Not worried about it though.

Rachel Thorne said...

25 for this week (same as last week)! Been in LA the past two weeks for work- and have my last week of interning in Chicago this week! Can't wait to see everyone soon!

83 miles this week. It was a tough week, but I got the job done. Taking a down week cause I really need one. Here for 3 more weeks. Gotta maximize fitness gains and money gains.

62 miles in the Great White North with my old HS teammate who runs for Pitt now. Workouts went well. 10/10 could swim across Lake Huron if I wanted to. 2 weeks left of interning now. I'm ecstatic to be back in the ATL, not sure how that compares to Grady's exstasy.

60 miles and 60 minutes of cycling! I ran into Hannah while I was running along the Charles River by MIT last week. Small world!

Jag Gangemi said...

9 hrs aquajogging, 5 hrs arm biking, 3 hrs recumbent biking, and about 45 mins underwater walking. After exactly 69 days on crutches, I'm walking again. Doing a lot of rehab exercises every day — slowly rebuilding my leg. Spent a lot of quality time in the pool with Gabe this week, and heard some truly captivating stories. @Grady: hydrostriding is the future.

60 miles and 2 hrs swimming. My family left for the beach without me on Saturday (I have a final on Thursday so I couldn't go), but I'm not alone because my mom decided to have our kitchen cabinets refaced and our living room painted and she invited her friend to stay at our house. Perfect studying environment. After my final on Thursday I am swimming a 200 IM in a masters' swim meet on Friday night and seeing Nikita's play with Kaylee on Saturday.

I slightly strained my back last week so I only got 17 miles in. It's all better now so picking it all back up this week.

48 + 2 hours biking. Feeling a little sore but still grinding & taking some extra time to stretch. This week is also my last week in Oxford. Gonna miss running by cows every day but I'm super excited to actually have people to run with again. HMU if you want to go meet at the river/the mountain/anywhere else to run next week!!!

1 project, 2 finals, 2 plane rides, and 53 miles later, I'm back in the States! Good to be back! Still facing some major jet lag so I switched my long run to yesterday and got to run with my HS team again which was great! I'm in Florida near Pensacola if anyone is nearby and wants to run together! Like Grady, I'm excited for everyone to be back at Tech (though not quite as excited).

Great week for the Landshark. 45 miles terajogging and 1 hour aquajogging. Getting in shape fast and think I am ready to start doing some workouts. This is my final week of work and am excited to spend more of my time doing nothing. Very excited for the season except for morning practice.

50 miles with 30 miles of hiking. For the past few weeks my weekends have consisted of backpacking along the Appalachian trail so I've had to switch around my long run and modify Saturday runs
