and so it begins

Working on move-in dates and fall xc schedule, hope to post to blog in next couple of weeks...

Most of you are on week three of training on the new schedule.  For this week, 5-6 light runs totaling 65% of your full volume week.  Add some short hill repeats or strides on Thursday.

Some of you are also ahead of schedule as you took your post-season break earlier.  If ahead of schedule, that's ok.  Just continue gradual build to full mileage.

For those ahead of schedule, for this week and going forward, add a ~70-75% "easy tempo" run on Tuesday's.  Run your normal mileage for the day, using the first mile to warm-up a little.  Then progress the run to about 70-75% effort.  This effort should NOT feel like a "workout" day, rather just a quality distance day.  Make sure you are feeling strong throughout and not struggling to the finish.  Don't worry about pace, just focus on running by feel.

For those on schedule, if you are feeling good and want to add the 70-75% effort on Tuesday, go ahead with it.

As always, if you have any questions, reach out!

Still biking and swimming my side, but almost at zero pain so things are looking up. Hoping to be out of the boot at the end of this week. Missing you all.

21 miles before I got sidelined by some more hip pain. Dr’s think I might have some muscular tearing so I’m cross training and taking it easy for now. Don’t worry I’m gonna treat this injury and be ready to go for cross. So glad to see the rest of team grinding but make sure y’all are thinking long term to run your best in October and November!!!

37 miles last week. As I’ve been getting into higher mileage my old back and adductor problems are coming back so I’ve been doubling down on PT and recovery.

31 miles! been waking up before work to run and that although it feels great makes me soooo sleepy around noon. A co worker said welcome to corporate America, where coffee is part of your daily routine, he might be right! I didnt want to come to this... drinking coffee everyday until im like drosky ordering 2 Large coffees at dunking but im getting close... anyways, if youre in Atlanta and want to run at 6am with me just let me know.
Also have been doing lots of yoga and makes me feel great for my runs so I recommend!

1 mile been out for a while now because of the PRP it’s crazy to think this is the longest I’ve gone without running since seventh grade. But this time hasn’t it been all bad. I have been able to build some really good habits with nutrition, hydration, and even got to the point where I consistently roll and stretch for 40 minutes to an hour each night so every day I’m working on getting back as healthy as possible!

22 miles last week and 2 hours of aqua jogging. I ran on Pre's Trail by the University so runs in Oregon were incredible. I love a good run in the city but enjoyed the peaceful mountains, rivers, and soft surfaces on all my runs there. It was incredible to see the top talent in the country compete under one stadium.

15 miles with elliptigo 30-60 minutes every day. started to work with PT again and getting needled once a week to solve some residual issues from all my stress fractures. every time I tell a doctor my medical history with injuries they recommend moving to a "non-impact" sport, but thanks to an amazing team and coaches I have people to keep me going! Bones feel good right now but I'm having some tendon pain in the posterior tibialis area-- this is one of the spots PT is focusing on.
