Hope you're enjoying the Olympic Games - what a great event! It's hard to believe it's been 16 years since the Games were hosted by Atlanta, our campus was the Olympic Village, and our track was the training track for all the athletes in the village. The highlight of these games so far was the men's 10k yesterday - how loud was it in that stadium!
A little dip this week in mileage to consolidate the last two weeks of training. Less than two weeks to see everyone, we're anxious to get going : )

46 miles for the week. Week started off pretty well, but struggled towards the end. Had a solid 5-4-3-2-1 fartlek on Tuesday, but the tempo was rough, only managed 3 miles. I think it had to do with the lack of sleep I had all last week do to a very busy week and a quick early pace on the run. Also, I was dealing with a bit of lower leg issues towards the end of the week. Taking today off to give my legs a little chance to breath and hopefully I'll be back in full swing tomorrow.

58. The miles got tiring by the end of the week with finals and moving, but i managed a solid 5 mile tempo on Friday. My whole family is here this weekend and the comments about the olympic track events are very entertaining. My brother-in-laws asked if I had every raced the girls competing in the 400 and my sister said the men's 10 k was like a horse race during the last lap..
58. A lot of traveling this week so I took a day off and I'm switching this week with last week.
51 with Monday off and 6 miles lost due to sickness.
66 miles. I've still got a little hamstring pain (feels like a small strain in the back of the knee). It's not really hurting my running though. Workouts went great. 5-4-3-2-1 fartlek was faster than my tempo from 2 weeks ago, and I felt great on my 7 mile tempo.
Ran 10min Friday. Taking Saturday and today off, will run again tomorrow. Starting to feel back to normal :) Biking and swimming as well. Can't wait to see everyone!!

58 miles. Lost a run due to storming. Solid week. Feeling inspired by the Olympics. :D
69. Monday and tuesday went a little long. I feel really good, don't want to take a day off this week, but I will decide on saturday. Might have been a little ambitious on the tempo, went 15 seconds too fast the first mile and definitely felt it at the end. Managed 7 in 40:03. I feel pretty fit, even being behind on the schedule a little bit.
69 last week with good workouts. My knee felt fine, which was relieving.

58 miles last week. Felt pretty good.
60 on the week, feeling decent. 5.5 mile tempo in 33:19, got hit hard by the heat and humidity on that one and cut a bit short. Eyyyy ooooh @Nestes and JG
58 miles for the week. For my long run this morning I came across a momma bear and 3 cubs, she wasn't too happy..
Anyone have any good ideas for a fartlek on Tuesday? I'm thinking about switching up from the standard 5-4-3-2-1.

2 and then 0. I need to see Paul when I get back, my knee has been giving me a lot of trouble. It's so frustrating.

52, lots of driving to Michigan for a relaxing visit. Fartlek went well, a little hot for tempo run, catching up but not trying to push it too hard
56 with a day off. Legs are feeling really tired
58 this week. Feeling sluggish. My long run was rough and my workouts weren't as fast as I was hoping. Easy runs felt smooth and easy though.
Focusing on recovery this week.
10. Came down with a pretty rough virus this week that hit me pretty hard. I lost a lot of weight, but not in a good way! Luckily, I'm feeling a lot better and looking forward to getting back out for another run tomorrow morning. Hopefully start to feel my strength come back a bit once I can get back on the runner's diet train.

Apparently I am technologically inept. Sorry, I guess I haven't been pressing the publish button for the past few weeks! To condense the missed posts I miss you guys, can't wait to see everyone. Still hot, but it's hot everywhere right now. 37, 35 (family stuff and car accident limited days for running), and this week was 45. Will be on top of it this week, going to a running seminar today and tomorrow. I might possibly finally understand how to do the B skip correctly? Diana and I will be pros. . . .
66 for the week.

EHHHHH OOOOWWWW
Austin, instead of a 5,4,3,2,1 you could do an unstructured fartlek. Just warm up 1-2 miles, then put in some 30 second - 2 minute bursts at a pretty quick pace (~85%). Recover at a normal easy day pace(~65%) until you're ready to go fast again. Whatever you do, be sure not to go anaerobic. If you feel like you are, just take it easy the rest of the way home. But don't make it too easy on yourself either - it's still a workout.
39.. I flew two days last week and both times my flight was delayed all day so I had to take those days off :(

42 for last week
44 and 48 for the last two weeks. Feelin great. Great long run last week and a really solid 7 mile tempo. I also had a couple solid 5-4-3-2-1 fartleks. My apologies for not posting. Was galen rupp awesome or what?? Alberto Salazar is lookin pretty good right now
62 miles of high-octane, finely-tuned aerobic base. Had a nice spin around the chattahoochee loop with Gutierrez for a 6-mile tempo in slightly less than 35:00. Austen's GPS watch made the time a little ambiguous, but we are thinking we averaged around 5:48.
