welcome back

It's finally here...time to report to campus, take care of all the paperwork and physicals, and get started with practice!  We hope you are as excited as we are!  A list of important dates was emailed today, so make sure you received it and have all the dates marked down somewhere.

We will have an optional team dinner on Thursday, more details to follow.  But as it is optional, please text us IF YOU ARE NOT ATTENDING so that we'll know the number to plan for.  We also have a team dinner on Friday after our meetings that we expect everyone to attend, as well as a lunch on Saturday.

As official practice does not start until the first day of classes, we will meet for an optional 80% run on Friday morning, and then plan on switching your long run to Saturday morning this week.  Again, on an optional basis, we will meet Saturday morning and car pool out to either Kennesaw or the River.  With physicals and pictures on Sunday, it would be difficult to get the long run in on the usual day.

See you Thursday!

61 in 6, mostly doubles. Learned some weird-ass mental training techniques from former GT coach, Mike Spino. Had a good 14 miler today and the summer's best workout too! It was intense. For anyone that wants to ride the pain train, do this after you run: 300 jump rope, 20x (5 pull ups, 10 pushups, 15 air squats), 300 jump rope. I'm excited to get to GT and set up our room, cause it is gonna be sick! Where are we eating the team dinner, Coach?

65 last week, I changed around a bunch of days so that I could get all my runs back on schedule since I was a day off on everything and doing my long runs on Saturday. Lucky for me though, coach BTDT must have heard I was doing this and decided to switch up the long run to Saturday this week.

On a slightly more positive note, Lolo Jones is no longer my favorite Olympic athlete. I'm all about Manteo "Greg Jennings" Mitchell now. Anyone who can break their leg and still run a 46 is a good man in my books.

this week 33.5 over 5 days of running, and swimming/biking as cross training. The week before tuesday-sunday i cross-trained, 13 miles of running sunday/monday. the cortisone shot definitely helped.

44 in 6 days, driving again for a full day. Had an awesome 13 long run for today at KM saw Austin and DJ! Also had a good tempo this week and ran with my new Kenyan-running friend.
Jeremy- Ms. Spino was my substitute teacher in middle school haha (yes it's the same Spino family)

Building back up... 32 for last week plus some cross training. Aiming to hit my actual mileage this week. Doubling up on iron supplements at the moment. Got in a quality long run this past week but no tempo runs.

35 this week with a lot of biking as well, a little short due to travel. Had a really good 12 miler at the river today though

53 miles in the mountains including 3 in a torrential downpour and lightning storm on a search and rescue mission to save the slower campers. A couple of campers tried to shitkick me during the fartlek workout and found themselves quickly dropped. DBAB.

45 this week. Pushed my long run to today (Monday) because of the longer run Saturday to catch up on mileage for the week. Had some solid days, including an 8 miler in a downpour just like JWEG. Been working on my form and arms.

Anyone see the men's marathon? Uganda for the upset! And I am as excited as Greenwald to get back to Tech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fartlek and tempo were solid this week

12 on Sunday then 0 the rest of the week but finally figured out the pain in my leg is from an inflamed sciatic nerve. Return to running imminent.

I did uptempo runs and easy runs but no real workouts this week. They all felt good. Looking forward to getting back!

55 for the week up at a running camp in NC with my boy JWeg. Hip flexor issues in the middle of the week so..took a day off. fartlek workout went well. 80% run went well also. Overall an ok though week as I was trying to get use to the trails up in the mountains of NC. But it was fun.

57 for the week..feeling a lot better (not sick anymore), just feeling a little weak still. Otherwise, runs have felt really good and I've definitely been surprised by how easy 80% runs have felt. Just need to finish up the summer with a solid week of rest and nutrition and I'm good to go!

56, a little short due to some crazy hours during my last week working, glad to be done with the intern grind just relaxing at kiawah island now. Tried to find Rory McIlroy during the PGA championship to propose to him but was unsuccessful. Also tried to sneak onto Tiger Woods' yacht but his security guards stopped me, amateur hour I know. Hope everyone's move in goes smooth, see y'all in a few days!!

Mediocre 55 on the week. It was my last week of work and I moved home from New Orleans until I head to school, so I was a bit stressed. Similar to Doug, did a lazy unstructured fartlek and an uptempo 10 miler but no real workouts. Ready to get back to Tech!

55 すずしい (su-zu-shii ... cool, refreshing) miles with a day off due to general fatigue. Finishing up things at CareerBuilder/Norcross this week. Will miss some of the epic farleks around Norcross High's track. Given this is the last comments section of summer 2012, it justifies a Steve Ovett quote:

"You find out a lot about yourself through athletics. If you're cut out to be a winner or a failure or a quitter, athletics will bring it out of you. You're always stripping yourself down to the bones of your personality. And sometimes you just get a glimpse of the kind of talent you've been given. Sometimes I run and I don't even feel the effort of running. I don't even feel the ground. I'm just drifting."
