winding down

With the NCAA season wrapped up all that is remaining is the USA Junior Championships to be help in Des Moines, IA in two weeks.  And while a strained hamstring in the days leading up to the NCAA meet contributed heavily to a disappointing end to a stellar season, the overall experience was awesome.  A great suggestion for your post-competitive days bucket list would be to watch a championship meet in Eugene, Oregon.  Even better, next year's NCAA meet will return to Hayward Field - we're in the very beginning stages of preparing to have more representation for 2014!

Remember, all reporting of weekly mileage should now be to the comment section of the blog.

No mileage for the week.
Things are looking up though. This past week was the first I've had with absolutely no pain. One more week off and I can start up again. Getting a bit anxious..but patience is key.
Hope everyone's having a great summer so far!

25 this past week, found a sweet 250m track near my dorm in Lyon. There and the park is where i will be doing most of my running so I can be on a soft surface though as mileage goes up I will probably be able to venture farther into the city with my running which will be fun.

17 miles for me. I did some strides one day and that seemed to aggravate my achilles. So I took the rest of the week really easy.

Hopefully things are looking up for me though. I found out this week that I pronate when I run. My achilles tends to hurt more when I put more pressure on the inside of my foot, so that could be the cause of my problem. I got some Brooks Adrenaline support shoes this week so hopefully those will help the injury.

25 miles for last week!

However, I have also been "working out" in the pool. I'm a YMCA camp counselor and when pool time comes around the kids cheer while us counselors grimace. Let's just say that an hour a day I become a water jungle gym for around 75 elementary schoolers...

On a happier note, I traveled to the one and only Snellvegas this weekend and got to stay with Caroline! There may have been some foul play though cause I woke up with either an allergic reaction or... pink eye...

I hope everyone is doing well! I miss you all.

A big 30 on the mileage this week including a heroic 5 during tropical storm Andrea. For all those concerned the answer is yes: Jacksonville Florida survived the storm. It was pretty wimpy actually. They didn't even close the beach.

Had a solid 3 miles starting 2 days ago and did 5 today for the "long run". Looking and feeling good but mostly looking good here at the Beach.

Like JWeg I too got to experience a bit of Tropical Storm Andrea last week, but in all honesty it was AWESOME and took away from the otherwise horrid heat in Savannah. Speaking of the heat (and did I mention ridiculous humidity?), I have to run in the afternoon 4 days out of the week, because I start work at SIX O' FREAKING CLOCK AM, and already have to get up around 4:40am just to make it there in time. No morning runs for me except on my days off.

My mileage for the week was 29.5 - was going for 30 or 31 but literally thought I was about to DIE on my run yesterday and had to call it quits a tad early.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Miss you guys!

Just 20. The whole ankle thing wrecked the beginning of this week as well as the end of last week but that's okay its fine now. Shout out to Hayley the Freshman who took a while for Chris and me to catch at the River on Saturday. She was going pretty quick and then we found out in the parking lot she ran 9..... we ran 3.

41 I found out that our rain gear is water resistant and not water proof when Andrea decided to bring her soggy butt up North. Not that it really mattered because I had to take it off for my workout anyway and I went swimming fully clothed afterwards. A few things are starting to ache, but I just need to hold it together for another week and a half.

0 miles again but FINALLY out of the boot! I started the bike today, and it feels good to finally sweat again and not smell like chlorine from pool running.

And yes the wonderful Maria Boff made the trip to the one and only Snellvegas but woke up to one of her eyes completely sealed shut...miss all of you guys!

If any engineering majors would still like an internship for the summer, let me know. Our neighbor works at GE and keeps asking for interns- preferably Mechanical Engineering. My email is meganeb6@hotmail.com if you're interested.
