moving forward

Hopefully everyone had a good first week back of training on the schedule.  Don't forget to post your mileage for last week in the comments section.  Strength training will be added this week, a schedule will be emailed early in the week.  The summer is a great time to increase strength in all areas, and to strengthen weak areas.  Make a commitment to work hard to make important strength gains.

There was some great coverage of the NCAA Championships in Eugene (commentators not withstanding!), hopefully you were able to watch and be inspired!  Courtney Frerichs of New Mexico became an NCAA Champion and set a collegiate record in the process.  As a high school senior in Missouri she was 54th in her XC state championship race and ran a personal best of 2:24 for the 800m in her spring track season.  Her story is awesome.  To be sure, talent is important, but do not underestimate how important commitment and desire are!

Hi everyone! I'm Jack and I'll be joining the team this upcoming fall as a grad student with a full year left of eligibility. I can't wait to meet you all and I'm really excited to start training together. Feel free to contact me at jackbordoni@gmail.com and say hi - I should be visiting Atlanta within the next month to explore housing options and it would be great to meet some of you then as well (I also would love any housing recommendations you might have!).

I ran 40 miles this past week, with a couple awesome runs on the South Yuba River - a really cool place to run (with post-run swimming holes!) if you're ever in the area.

36 for me. I switched my long run to Saturday for this week so that I could run with my high school boys team. I will be a little short for next week unless I switch it again. If anyone likes to run at the river and wants a buddy let me know because I plan on running there quite a bit.

6 miles last week which was almost a record for weekly mileage. First run back from injury was on Friday. Biked and rowed for the rest of the week to get a little cross training action in. Not much happening here in the big city of Augusta.

26 miles!

My Friday night consisted of me watching the NCAA Championships and going to bed at 10pm #wild

Got in 31 miles. Didn't punk out of any runs this week, so that's good sign. Ran up these trails yesterday and got a dope view of the reservoir and city. Haven't done much besides watch the NBA and NHL finals this past week. NCAA's certainly lived up to the hype this year. Blood boiling with excitement for the upcoming year. Itching to start racing again!

14 miles two weeks ago and 20 last week. Regaining fitness is once again proving to be a slow and arduous process.

25 miles last week. I met up with Juanita last weekend and we went to Miami. I tried to catch a chicken I found under an overpass but it was too fast. Those things go crazy when you chase them. Also, I can't seem to post a comment from my phone, as it just erases what I typed when I hit publish. Can anyone help me out?

Ran 6 underwater miles because I'm an underwater type of guy. Not much else going on, except for an unmentionable quantity of aqua-jogging/bike workouts. Otherwise, just holding it down in the A.

Hey everyone, 22 miles this past week. Can't wait until long runs are actually "long".

Hope everyone is having a good summer so far, and if you're not, Finding Dory comes out Friday, so that should liven up everyone's summer! Just keep swimming!...Or in our case, running.

I ran 23 miles last week. Feels great to be back!

Highlights from last week - 19 miles logged, some relaxing, some strength training, the new Jungle Book movie, and even attempted hurdling after watching NCAA steeplechase. Ah, summer.

2 miles last week and 40-60 min of biking each day.
Strained hip flexor (rather than abductor), so much faster expected healing time than I was afraid of. Already feeling better (rolling, stretching, icing, etc. & sleep helps). I plan to try running again by the 2nd half of this week (after getting checked out & cleared by Jenna / sports med).
Besides that, one round of exams behind me and 2nd round's quickly approaching. Wonderful summer so far
