New training spreadsheets will go out in the next couple of days as the new training cycle begins week two. Make sure you look everything over once you receive your training spreadsheet and make sure you understand everything. There are no major changes to the spreadsheet from last year. Basically we'll build up to a full volume week, maintain that level with consolidation weeks every 2-3 weeks, and then taper toward championships. The first phase of six weeks consists of a gradual build up to your full volume mileage week. During these first six weeks, run easily as you feel, DO NOT worry about paces, and there are no workouts. One day a week, preferably on Thursdays, do 6-8 strides focusing on being relaxed and running with good technique. Some mobility and stretching should be included both before and after your runs. Lastly, each week should be supplemented with one to two hours of cross-training.
Each week, starting with this one, you are encouraged to report your mileage for the previous week through the comment section of the blog.
Sleep and nutrition, as always, are integral parts of proper training. Sleep times should be as consistent as possible, with at least seven hours each night, and shooting for that magical nine hours fourteen minutes! Nutrition should always include good sources of carbohydrate, lean protein, and healthy fats. Staying hydrated is obviously very important.
Strength & Conditioning will be sent separately. The summer is a great opportunity to make gains in strength, and also to strengthen weak areas. For returners, you can to the Taurus general strength circuit twice a week and squats once or twice a week.
The pace chart is included as a tab in the spreadsheets that will be sent. We'll begin to focus on the pace chart a little in the next phase, but mostly we will begin to use it extensively once we get back to school and practice starts. The golden rule regarding the pace chart is that we ALWAYS look at it thinking about where our current fitness is...we NEVER use it thinking about what our personal bests are or what our goals are.
Lastly, at the end of the season we asked everyone individually "what do you bring to the team". Continue to think about that question. For those joining the team next year, consider how you would answer that question. At some point you will very likely be asked!

Summer starting off very well. Congrats to Avery on 2nd team All-American honors! Hope everyone's summer is going well! To all the newcomers, WELCOME TO THE FAM! Time to get fit, get fast, and kick ass!
28 miles for me last week running on some beautiful trails next to the Arno River in Florence! I hope everyone is having a great summer and I can't wait to be back running with all of you soon!

40 miles in Cincinnati. This place has some real hills. Hope everyone is having a great start to their summer.
38 miles of running with 2 hours of swimming and 30 minutes of aqua jogging. Learning to swim at the Alpharetta YMCA with old people that are currently kicking my ass. If anyone is nearby I go with the masters group Monday and Thursday mornings. Congrats to Avery on all-American and welcome to all the new teammates!
20 miles of running because I had a bit of trouble with my foot last week and had to dial it back a little bit. It's been a little frustrating that I'm not feeling 100% by now but I think I'm back on track and ready to start getting the mileage up. Excited for sure to start getting some quality training in, man it's been too long.
30 miles for me this past week, the best of which were with Hailey in Paris, where I'm studying French this summer. Filled with anticipation for cross country season with you all in the fall. Go Jackets!
23 miles!! Welcome new teammates!! I'm in Atlanta for the summer so hit me up if you ever want to run together!
27 miles! France has some pretty cool places to run. I hope everyone's having a great summer!!
48 miles last week while traveling from Iowa to Texas. To anyone on the team, feel free to hit me up if you're living anywhere around the country this summer, I'll be driving all around the place all summer long. Next stop: Nahom in Colorado.
18 miles for me last week. The temperature here in Limerick, Ireland is great for running, and I have been enjoying running by the Shannon River. I am looking forward to this upcoming cross country season and seeing everyone!
28 miles last week. Ran into Dikembe Mutumbo at Dunkin Donuts with Munns and Ryan. Show me a better blocker. Also Nahom said he was going to send me a broom in the mail last week but I never got it. Cavs in 7
Sunday 6/4 through Saturday 6/10: 25 miles run plus 30 min biking and 11 miles hiking. I was on a road trip with my family in some really beautiful places, including backcountry CO the week before, Utah, and Wyoming! I ran some cool trails and also got my first taste of running at elevation.
25 biggies last week! Missin' everyone and hoping y'all are having some good times as well as getting in some solid training. P45417 STAY STARVED

I am slowly working to try let my body actually recover from mono death. This week I drove 14 hours from Philly to Atlanta for internship training, and then 3 more hours onto Knoxville for my actual internship... railroad life and sleeping may not be a thing, but I am going to do the best I can. Happy Summer everyone! And freshman, welcome to the team!
27 miles last week. Like Nahom said, congrats to Avery on his performance at NCAAs.
27 miles last week! Feeling good, and excited for the upcoming season. Welcome to all the freshmen!
18 miles last week. This past week has been pretty tough balancing work and running due to a project, but I'll get back to a normal schedule next week. I didn't have time to swim last week but I'll get in at least 30 minutes tomorrow.
5/29: 10
6/5: 18
If anyone in ATL, the trackhouse is going to the river on Sundays. Let us know if u wanna join.
41 miles. I am in Cape Girardeau, MO this week! I echo basically all of Nahom's sentiments. Pure gains, congrats to Avery, welcome newcomers etc, etc.
20 miles in Lander, WY last week. Unlike Nahom I've been getting destroyed by the altitude, but there aren't many oysters out here to cut my feet on. A couple of runners from Navy are up here though, so I'm glad to have someone to run with for the next few weeks. To the new freshmen, im super pumped to have you all on the team! Also shoUTOUT TO AVERY FOR KICKING ASS AT NCAAS!!!
0 miles... 23 days (but who's counting?) France is pretty neat, but really missing running while I'm traveling because it's such an awesome way to see new places. Miss everyone and I'm super excited to meet all the new freshmen!!! :D
zero bigguns last week
ran for the first time since my prelim yesterday and felt pretty good.
10 miles plus 4 hours cross training.
This last week I've been pretty sick so I eased it back running wise and tried to make up for it in cross training. Hope everyone is having a good summer!
20 miles of running and 50+ miles of hiking! Just got home from Ireland last night. I'm so excited for the coming season and getting to know all our newcomers!!
28 last week. I'm feeling great and looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. I'll be in the track house all summer so anyone who's local, hit me up for a run.
32 miles last week, recovering from a little hiccup in a foot. Virginia is objectively hotter than Atlanta, and Kevin Durant is the biggest snake in the history of professional sports.
26 miles last week, excited for the upcoming year!!
0 last week... but plenty of arm biking! I got to Cali & started work last week after road tripping from Virginia. Welcome to the team, new people!
34 miles last week (6/4) and in contrast to Frank and Nahom, at about 2 ft of altitude and 100% humidity in Savannah. Not many places to run around here, but I'm feeling good. Looking forward to a great season!
30 miles last week! Super excited for the upcoming season!
30 miles for me last week! Feeling good and looking forward to XC!
14 miles, with 2.5 hours of cross training.
Currently sick and running is tough due to coughing so I had to keep it easy. Hoping I will be better this week to build more mileage.
