supercompensation

This is the last week before we move into a new phase so make sure you follow your plan and let your mileage (and cross-training) lower so that we have a good consolidation week.  If you need some scientific rationale to take an easier week, just google "supercompensation" :)

You should have received emails from our compliance office and the Athletic Training room with instructions on how to fill out and submit forms that are needed before you can start practice.  These forms should be completed and submitted by the end of this week.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THESE FORMS, CONTACT US!

Workouts for this week:

Tue: 8-10 x 1' @ either 6k or 8k goal pace with 4' easy recovery*
Fri: 5' + 4' + 3' + 2' + 1' @ ~85% effort w/ equal time recovery @ ~65%

*make sure you are taking the full recovery and running EASY during the recovery; you can follow the structure of the above workouts, OR you can free fartlek them by just running up to one minute efforts at goal race pace followed by sufficient easy recoveries for forty minutes or more, OR you can run a hill fartlek if you have a hilly route, just run strong up the hill and again make sure you have plenty of easy recovery between.

Things to note (repeated from last week):

The rosters on our website will be updated soon, check to make sure your info is correct.

*FRESHMEN: those attending one of the last two FASET sessions will move into your school year housing assignment early when you arrive for orientation.  Other freshmen should move in on the Wednesday, August 16th, and will incur early move-in charges from housing that will show up on your bursar's account, along with a credit from the Athletic Association to cover those charges.

*UPPERCLASSMEN: should move in on Thursday, August 17th, and those in housing will incur early move-in charges from housing that will show up on your bursar's account, along with a credit from the Athletic Association to cover those charges.

*more info will be send regarding our first team meeting, our compliance meeting, and physicals.

First official practice will be 6:00 AM on Tuesday, August 22nd...P45417!

About 7.5 hours total of cross-training last week. I did about 4 hours biking, 3.25 arm-biking and 0.25 on the elliptical(!) I also did about an hour of archery, which was a ton of fun, if that counts for cross-training. I can't believe the summer's almost done!

40 miles with 30 min elliptical and 6 miles of hiking, which also involved crawling into the pitch blackness of a cave. Cool, but creepy. I've got 4 days left with my trains/internship here in Knoxville, can't wait to be back in Atlanta!

34 miles this week, with 2.5 hours of aquajogging and 1.5 of cycling. Wasn't able to cross train as much as I'd like to with 2 straight days of driving

40 miles and a sad 0 minutes of cardio cross training...I did some strength, though. This past week, I stayed at my friend's family's cabin in the tiny town of Otis, Massachusetts. It's a beautiful area, but my running terrain was limited to ridiculously hilly gravel roads. Vacation is nice (obviously) but I'm glad to be back in ATL to get ready for move-in :)

65 miles last week with an hour of elliptical plus the usual strength. Currently at my desk for my last Monday morning at work.
Moved into the attic of my Airbnb host yesterday. Already excited to move out at the end of the week.

69 miles. Took my down week earlier due to swelling in my ankle. Probably be low on mileage this week to let it heal. Rather take a few days off than a few weeks

60 miles and 90 minutes of cycling! Only one and a half weeks til move-in and I just now realized that my HS teammate running for UVA has been in town like all summer. So many missed opportunities to have a running buddy!!

2 weeks ago: 47 miles, 1.25 hours swim, 3 hours aquajog

last week: 49 miles running. Cross training was hard to quantify as I was a camp counselor for a diabetes camp and swam, hiked, and had other athletic activities everyday. It was a significant amount though. Diabetes camp was fun, I respect my pancreas a lot more now. Excited for the semester to start!

62 miles. Made the return to Kennesaw with some of the guys yesterday for my first run at the mountain in months. Tripped and scraped myself up about 5 steps into the run. The mountain always gets me one way or another. Excited to get the team back together and start throwing down.

53 miles! I run on the same trail here in Florida and on Friday I noticed that there's a zebra and a pack of longhorns that live right next to it. They were nice.

62 miles and coming up on the last week of work for the summer. Legs started feeling a little heavy last week so took the easy days a little easier than normal, and had already noticed a difference for Friday's workout. Looking forward to the same effects after a good consolidation week!

Also, looked up supercompensation on Wikipedia, and the main graphic didn't make much sense to me. So many questions.

31 miles last week and an 8 mile hike up at Mount Rainier. Allergies are starting to get rough in Washington, also the smoky air from the forest fires in Canada is awful! It's a big haze just roaming over this state; and apparently the air quality is twice as bad as Beijing! Final 4 days of work are just around the corner and I cannot wait to be done with that and back to being a student...ATHLETE!!!

60 miles, 2 hours of swimming, and one final exam. Looking forward to being back together with everyone.

20km erging, 30 minutes on the elliptical, and 3hrs 10 minutes aqua Jag-ing, for an equivalent of 32 miles. The mri showed that my hip pain is tendonitis, which sucks but at least we know what the problem is. Jenna did some dry needling on me and on thursday and friday i had a total of 17 needles in me ranging from 1" to 4". Crazy thing is it didnt even hurt

44 miles this week and 2 hours of swimming and 3 hours of weights! feeling good and excited!

155 min last week! Feeling good. Finals last week kicked my butt, but I'm glad they're done! On another note, when I visited malin in Stockholm, my bag was lost by SAS and found three days later 50km south of Malin's house, opened with the contents strewn across a forest. So my weekend has been interesting. In London now for my last city before back to Atlanta!

71 last week and 40 min of aqua jogging. Just got back from visiting my friend in San Francisco. All the runs out there were pretty hilly.

60 miles for me last week and some strength work. Finally back in Marietta as of Monday. I live about 15 minutes from Kennesaw so if anyone wants to meet there or somewhere else to run, I would love to! I got to run with my teammate from high school today and yesterday which was great! I am adjusting to the heat pretty well though I did have a mishap on Sunday during my long run while I was in Florida. Made it through 8 miles, at which point it was at least 86 degrees, but then got pretty lightheaded so my dad convinced me to stop. :(
