Reminder of move-in dates...
Transfers: move in August 13
Returning Students: move-in August 14
Both the team and GTAA will have functions during the following week before school starts. Before you make any other plans for this week, make sure you clear with coaches first. If you know of any conflicts, make sure you notify coaches as soon as possible.
Training for the this week and for the next few weeks is pretty straight forward... one long run, one to two "easy tempos", hills or fast strides on Thu, and one day off. This is week five of gradually building mileage, so shoot for 80-85% of full volume this week. Next week will be a consolidation week with slightly lower volume. The only real danger right now is overdoing the "easy tempos" and the recovery days. If you finish runs and wonder if you are actually going too easy... you've probably nailed the effort perfectly!
Lastly, below is from former Navy Seal and author of "Can't Hurt Me", David Goggins, is his description on how to be a great teammate...
"A lot of people in life want to feel victory with putting in minimal work. While being a part of a team is very important, you don't want to be the team member who gets carried through every evolution.
When I was going through training, we used to carry these logs. There were 6 people on one log so it was easy to hide out on that log. People could act like they were trying their hardest by the look on their faces. In reality, while there were 6 people on that log, only 3-4 were truly carrying it. In addition to the log, they were also carrying the other 2-3 people that weren't pulling their own weight.
I got a chance to realize all of this when they made the lie detector log. This particular log had six different small logs connected by a chain therefore each person had to carry their own. Under this log, there was no hiding and therefore they got exposed.
While team is very important, you must first be a good individual with maximum accountability. Make sure when you are pulled from the team and put on the lie detector that you are not the weakest link!
Never hide amongst the strong pillars in your team. Make sure you work your ass off to be one of them! Stay hard!"

35 miles last week
52 miles last week. Good tempo effort, but going to try and take it easier for the upcoming week. Feeling a little tired, so going to ease up on most runs. Finding good balance with work and training, and very happy about the cooler weather ahead.

43 miles 🙂 and got to run at Kennesaw today for long run
59 miles
28 miles. Did a little workout and 7 mile long run. Runs are getting a little bit faster and are feeling a little bit easier.
47 miles this past week. Some absolutely insane vistas on one of the runs. Great to have a coworker who runs for Biola University and another coworker that runs for Auburn to keep from doing my training all alone. Onward!
57 miles, solid week. Been making good use of the treadmill to double most days when its in the upper nineties in the afternoon
48 miles last week on 5 days. I had to take an extra day off Thursday due to some ankle pain that creeped up on me, but working on managing that a little better. Also going to start up the aqua jogging for some additional aerobic work.
55 miles last week and an easy tempo with Zack. Was planning on doing a little more mileage but I got sick. Took of the long run yesterday and am going to try and get back running tomorrow.
21 miles last week w/ 2 hours of cross training. Aqua jogged Friday and Saturday because of some foot and achilles pain, but was able to do a long run pain free until the end where I had the same foot problems. I’m not worried about it too much though, as I had the same thing during the middle of the season last year. Just need to avoid running on concrete. Aiming for 28-30 this week.
Also got a good 3 mile easy tempo in Tuesday. Felt smooth and controlled
42 (.5) miles this week! Ran with lots of ppl over the weekend, some alumni that still live in Atlanta. Been consistently going to bed around 9:15 gonna try to shoot for 9pm! Obsessed with Yoga and feel so much better on my runs because of it. it’s almost 11 and I haven’t had coffee and I don’t think I’ll need it today 🥳
26 miles this week! Slowly but surely increasing volume. Got to spend the weekend with family and went on a few bike rides as well. I loved reading “can’t hurt me”. Goggins was a perfect example of what you always say “Don’t be a product of circumstance”.
David Goggins is one of my favorites. 30 miles last week!

1st full week of rest since Newbalance Nationals in Philly. I’ve been stretching, doing mobility work, and just resting up. I’ve been hiking with my family over our vacation but nothing too much. Going to start back up with easy runs in a couple days.
Ran 16 miles and aqua jogged for 3 hours. Went to Lake Wedowee with the Sophomore class so that was tons of fun and such a great trip. Had lots of entertainment when aqua jogging because someone would float next to me, paddleboard, or Kayak so I was never alone :) The cross-training definitely helped because runs have been feeling great. The doctor said I can ramp up my mileage this week so I am excited for some longer runs.
40 miles last week
Wow, I appreciate the motivation from Goggins! I had a little bit of a rough start... got my wisdom teeth removed last week, then got sick, so I only ran 14 miles last week and cross-trained 20 minutes. Excited to have a full week being healthy :)
42 miles this last week. I got to run with Miguel on the easy tempo this last week! Aiming for 46-48 for this upcoming week but I’m going to take it easier on easy runs. I’ve been in Austin visiting my sister and the heat here is something else. It’s averaging right around 103 in the hottest part of the day
52 miles last week. Ran in Arizona for a couple days which was sick! Liz and me went to Kennesaw Sunday and she introduced me to this chick who runs marathons. She may have to be my new bff as we bonded over our running obsessions…that 12 miles went by so fast as we all conversed back and forth the whole time. Have a great week everyone and happy training!
30 miles
48 miles! First tempo was fun, but getting tired of running alone :( I miss everyone!
Still just lap swimming and the elliptical for me last week. Doing lots of general strength stuff as well as my PT exercises. Also lots of biking around Minneapolis since that’s my main form of transportation :)
45 miles last week. Did my first easy tempo run Tuesday and it felt pretty good at a reasonable pace. Easy runs have felt much easier since then and I have really acclimated well to the altitude. Looking forward to another tempo tomorrow, and hope everyone is doing well!
34 miles. I got to run with teammates for most of my runs this past week which was so nice. Hip is still feeling pretty good.
Katy- 50 miles this week. Had some fun doing the tempo and had fun running in Florida, but the humidity is no joke 😂 also- the swim team I coach for won Divisionals 😎
52 miles last week looks like this week is going to be a wet one might go to the Crc for doubles.
49 miles last week. 9 short because I cut my knee and shin pretty badly and wanted to let it heal for a day before running on it
30 miles! :)

33 miles last week!
29 miles last week! Running is finally starting to feel natural again. :)
19 miles last week!
54 last week. I've learned commenting hasn't been working from my phone so a little delayed commenting this week. I'm pretty tired from work and running but once I get outside for a few minutes, I tend to feel great. Sometimes, just getting outside is the hard part and then the rest of the run comes easy.
36 miles last week
Just biking and swimming mainly plus a few minutes on the elliptical which felt fine. Hoping to be able to run by the end of this week but well see. Next, I head out to Brevard Distance Runner's camp Friday for 3 weeks! I wont be running much but it will still be nice to start my runs (hopefully) on the nice trails :)
28 miles last week. Was aiming for 30, but didn’t feel great on Friday so I cut the run shorter and was not able to make up the 2 miles.
10 miles again trying to do more next week feeling good leaning a lot
