first full volume week

Reminder of move-in dates...

Incoming first-year: move-in August 12-13
Transfers: move in August 13
Returning Students: move-in August 14

Both the team and GTAA will have functions during the following week before school starts.  Before you make any other plans for this week, make sure you clear with coaches first. If you know of any conflicts, make sure you notify coaches as soon as possible.

For those on the schedule, this is the first volume week.  So while we are also moving into a new phase, keep this week the same as previous weeks... one long run, one to two "easy tempos", hills or fast strides on Thu, and one day off.  Again, as we continue to emphasize, SLOW DOWN.

Those who are still building to full volume, make sure you are beginning to add in one to two "easy tempos" as well.

Lastly, read the Tolstoy quote at the top of the blog...patience and time are always important, but certainly so at the beginning of a new phase.  Do not work too hard too soon!

64 miles. Feeling good for this full mileage week and I was also finally able to find a nice hill to run up because Houston is so flat.

27 miles with 20 minutes of cross training! I was taking things slow due to surgery/sickness and my muscles, but my first tempo was awesome!! Really glad I’m taking things a little slower this summer and enjoying the runs :)

63 miles last week. I don’t think my body is ready to hit full mileage this week so I’m going to take one more week to get there.

55 BIG ones last week. Good bounce back from sickness the week before. Very good tempo last Friday. Been doing a lot of treadmill running, and I kind of enjoy it, but need to get back to the hills of Atlanta. Feeling a bit tired, so looking forward to an off day tomorrow.

52 mighty miles of moving. Very sore after some mountain running with all the elevation gain but ready to hit full volume. Weird last week because I ran on Monday and took Wednesday off after an easy Tuesday. Was able to get back into the swing of things with a solid Friday tempo though. Also, got in the sauna last week so that was fun. Getting real excited about the season but still trying to be patient, especially with intensity of these runs.

51 miles last week! Really been focusing on taking my runs easier and it has been helping a ton as the mileage is going up. I am so excited for the first week of full volume! Heading to Colorado soon which will be a nice change :)

52 miles last week (8 mile jump from the previous week), spreadsheet says 60 this week but I am planning on doing 56-57 so I'm not jumping 8 mi two weeks in a row. Last week felt good and I'm starting to feel fit again because runs aren't as hard as they have been in previous weeks.

38 miles last week. Did some traveling on the second half of the week so I had to plan ahead to stay on top of things. Kept milage the same as the week before but added 50 minutes of cross training. Excited to hit full milage this week!!

33 miles last week. I had an MRI and met with Dr. Raiser for my foot. Thankfully, there's no bone issues! Just a bad case of plantar fasciitis and some nerve complications. Working with PT this week and running as tolerated.

43 miles last week. Had a great Tuesday tempo and felt great! Unfortunately on Thursday, there was a lady walking her dog and the dog thought it would be funny to bite me. Thankfully I was able to get it taken care of, and was able to get back to running on Saturday, but I took Friday off because it was still hurting a little. But all good now, and I started to do a very consistent core workout 3-4 times a week and have been building strength.

Still keeping up the cross training grind at Brevard now. Tried running a few minutes of run/walk twice last week and it felt fine during the run but hurt a few minutes after I stopped. Just keeping up my PT and hoping I can actually start running before I go to Colorado for altitude training๐Ÿ™„

53 miles, will probably not hit high mileage til next week as I had a slow build up. Workouts are going well though and I’ve been recovering better than most summers! One more month til I am reunited with my favorite ppl in the whole wide world!!

After a little hiccup, I ran 10 miles last week and felt much better. I will be sticking to soft surfaces until further notice. I cross trained 6 hours and followed along with the pace of runs but on the elliptigo instead. I will be seeing my physical therapist again this week.

Up to cross training 6 days/ week now and my PT stuff is going great and really progressing to get me back to running within the next 2 weeks!!! Praying all will go according to plan but there is light at the end of the tunnel :D

50 miles, I am feeling great and think I've found a balance between running and working a full time desk job. I am excited for the next couple weeks of full volume.

10 miles last week with a lot of aqua jogging. Ran 7 for LR and decided to take Tuesday-Friday to see if the pain in my arches of my feet would get any better. I ended up going to see someone about it and the reasoning was inner ankle mobility, causing me to land on the outside of my foot. Luckily, it’s a pretty minor injury and will be building strength in my ankle along with building mileage back up. Ran 3 Saturday after doing the exercises and felt minimal pain. Hoping to keep moving in the right direction
