competition schedule

#MTM #chopwoodcarrywater #lastyearmentality  #WILDDOGS ⬈🝚x🝚 #rememberthegoal

Week two of aerobic short specificity... short goal race pace efforts with long recovery so the overall workout remains aerobic while getting to turn the legs over.  Again, the second workout for the week will be an aerobic-based one, either as a sustained Aerobic Threshold/Easy Tempo or a fartlek. Continue with the short hill repeats or fast strides on Thursday, and S&C circuit on Tue and Fri.

Tue - fartlek of 10 x 1' @ either 6k or 8k goal pace with 3' easy recovery

Fri - sustained Aerobic Threshold/Easy Tempo @ ~75%
        OR  5' + 4' + 3' + 2' + 1' @ ~85% effort w/ equal time recovery @ ~65%

As always, ask if you have any questions!

XC Schedule:

Friday, Aug 29 - Kennesaw State XC Opener
Friday, Sep 12 - Southern Showcase at Huntsville
Friday, Oct 3 - GT Inv at Fairburn
Friday, Oct 17 - Crimson Classic at Tuscaloosa
Friday, Oct 31 - ACC Championships at Louisville
Friday, Nov 14 - NCAA South Region at Huntsville
Saturday, Nov 22 - NCAA Championships at Missouri

Again, reminders...

For those on campus, go to MY HOUSING for info on move-in dates and times for your dorm.

Incoming first-year: move-in August 9-10
Returning Students: move-in August 11 or 12

Both the team and GTAA will have functions during the following week before school starts.  Before you make any other plans for this week, make sure you clear with coaches first. If you know of any conflicts, make sure you notify coaches as soon as possible.

21 miles of running last week. I felt more fit each day. Midday runs were a lot harder, but still felt good. I adjusted pace and effort for runs in the most heat.

57 miles last week, a little under this week. Tuesday’s workout went well, but started to get a minor cold later that evening. Didn’t feel great Wednesday and took the day off for increased recovery. Easier doubles every day rest of the week and back to normal on Sunday.
