seven weeks down

...and seven to go. This week marks the seventh week of the twelve-week summer plan. And it is now seven weeks to go until our first meet, which will be the UGA Invitational in Athens.

Take some time to think about how your summer has been going. Can you feel improving aerobic fitness? Your runs should be at the right effort and your focus should be on that effort, not on any particular pace per mile. How do your easy aerobic runs feel? your long runs? your 80% runs? and your aerobic fartlek efforts?

Also, look at all the little things. Your sleep and recovery, your iron supplementation, your core strength, and your general strength - are you doing well in these areas?

You don't need to post your own self-evaluation or report it to your coaches, but you should go through the process with yourself.

Then decide how the next five weeks of your summer will go.

Sorry Coach, I've decided to change my motto...

"Live like a clock" is out.

"Live like Patrick" is in.

38 for me. Wanted to hit a few more, but I had to put in some longer days from Thursday on to get that far after the EMG. Only got in 1 fartlek, but it went well!! It has been really humid here. Hoping to add the tempo or at least another fartlek this week. Miss you guys!! :(

50 on the week. Struggling with a few nagging injuries that flared up, so I wasn't able to do the fartlek or the tempo. Doing my best to get back on track and live like Patrick again.

40 for the week. I got a little sick in the middle and backed of the intensity but I'm feeling fine now

45 this week. 80% run didn't go as well as I wanted it too.

41 on 5 days. Over this past week I spent some time in the grand canyon. I thought it would be fun to go for a run at 4:30... While the highest the humidity ever got was 9% the 115 degree heat took quite a toll. It felt like I was breathing dirt. Probably the longest 4 miles ever.

56 last week! my sister came to visit me thursday to sunday, and it was soooo great to have someone to run with! felt good this week.. the hardest thing is that i already get up at 5:45 for work everyday, so running in the morning is basically out of the question, so i'm stuck trying to fit in all my mileage after work, which is getting increasingly difficult! ahh!

48 miles, I feel really strong and I can tell I'm building my aerobic ability and I'm looking forward to the season.

40 miles last week with 2 days off due to traveling
30 the week before, (got a little sick and had to take a few days off)

BUT I'm HOME NOW and I'm healthy again! training is back into full force. I should hit all my mileage from now on.
