one week at a time
In the mountains of western North Carolina and having connectivity issues, so short post tonight. Getting close to full volume, keep up the ancillary training, ie core, glutes, mobility, etc!
44 miles and an hour of stationary bike. It seemed like everyone was out at the river yesterday. I enjoyed seeing former and current teammates and look forward to seeing more tomorrow. If anyone is in Atlanta and doesn't have plans after the race let me know. We don't celebrate the Fourth of July in my family. We celebrate the Peachtree.
I'm not dead. 570 mins. of arm-biking, plus 15 mins. recumbent biking last week, which breaks down to about 85 mins./day of staring at a wall while making circles with my appendages. Was on pace to do more, but ran into a shoulder issue in the middle of the week, which thankfully has been resolved. Beyond that, I've also been spending some quality time in the weight room, steadily getting huge. My left-leg balance has also gotten unreal - seven weeks of showering one-legged has me like a flamingo on Valium. So look out for that. Since it's my first time posting this year, I should say the last few weeks have been pretty similar to this one, but a little lower in volume and without the recumbent biking (I was just cleared to start a few days ago). I've also just been cleared to aqua-jog, so if anybody's looking for some pool-partnership, hit me up.
44 miles including 1 hour of swimming. Solid long run with the atl boys yesterday, and caught a glimpse of Shalane Flanagan at the river! Not gonna lie I had to google the definition of ancillary
No miles yet. I'm doing a lot of armbiking and swimming, and got to start recumbent biking last week (only 30 mins. so far). Got to embrace my inner child and go to the LA Zoo over the weekend.
46 miles with 1.5 hours of aquajogging. Feeling pretty good, it's great to be getting back up in mileage. Running alone half the time isn't too exciting but I've also been getting in some quality miles with my old high school teammates.
45 miles. Went kayaking yesterday and my parents ran into a bridge and flipped the boat. I count that as cross training trying to help them out. WATTBA///STTP
27 miles, 15 min swim and 45 min bike. Spent this week in Chattanooga, beautiful! And I'm currently living the night-life because I am working from 6pm to 6am. Not a fan of the night shift.
52 miles for me again. Good week ahead...Peachtree tomorrow and Colorado for the weekend. I also finally convinced my asthma doctors that I "do not have any asthmatic symptoms", yet I am still unable to convince them I am not an asthmatic. I guess breathing excercises and eating right do something for me. On another note, I am very close to having my left glute at 100% after 6 months of trying to loosen it up. Cross training going well... holding constant at about 3 hrs 20 mins a week of aquajogging and a tiny bit of swimming. Like Andrew, had to look up the meaning of ancillary
30 miles and 1.5 hrs swimming. Missed 2 and a half runs because a toe injury caused a hip injury caused a foot injury. Been working with Jenna to fix it all. I'm back home in Fort Lauderdale, FL for the 4th. Running here sucks but its nice to see the family again
67 miles last week. I have not been able to cross train this summer, but I've been learning corrective exercises and muscle activation exercises for injury prevention and strength. Been building up fast in mileage, so I'll probably wait til I'm closer to sea level to start heavy cross training. I'll be in a race on the 4th with one of the CSU guys who went to NCAAs so this will be a tough one...
34 for me this week. I'm a bit short because I'm doing peachtree tomorrow so I cut my long run a lot shorter than usual since I'll get about 9 tomorrow with warmup. been doing lots of swimming also!!
44 miles last week. Went to Colorado for the fourth to do some hiking and visit family. Got to see Frank yesterday in Dillon to get dinner after we both climbed the same mountain from opposite sides.
37 miles last week with 1 hour and 40 minutes of swimming and biking. I was in Houston this weekend visiting Melissa and got in some nice hot and humid miles with her. It was awesome to have a running buddy again. Missing running with the whole team!
28 miles (7 miles every other day) last week. Going to either three days on and one day off or every day this week depending on how the legs feel. Continuing to take things slow (although pace on the runs isn't too slow).
49 miles last week, 30 minutes of aqua jogging for x-training. This week I can finally say I got a good amount of cross training in though. I kayaked for 6 hours on Stone Mountain Lake, so I'd say that's at least an hour to 90 minutes worth.
34 miles + an hour of swimming two weeks ago, 38 miles + an hour of swimming + 4 hours of hiking last week. This week is going well so far, sorry for taking so long to post!
