Reminder...fall semester move-in dates...new incoming people move-in on Saturday, August 14th / returnees move-in on Monday, August 16th. For the upperclassmen, we know there may be some conflicts with internships, summer jobs, etc. Notify us as soon as possible of any conflicts. Regarding training, nothing changes for the next two weeks... one long run, two easy tempos, and hills on Thu.
For this week, above, from Amazon Prime, Bosch Season 7, comes a succinct and accurate reiteration of our team philosophy...everybody matters or nobody matters.
And below, from former Navy Seal and author of "Can't Hurt Me", David Goggins, is his description on how to be a great teammate...
"A lot of people in life want to feel victory with putting in minimal work. While being a part of a team is very important, you don't want to be the team member who gets carried through every evolution.
When I was going through training, we used to carry these logs. There were 6 people on one log so it was easy to hide out on that log. People could act like they were trying their hardest by the look on their faces. In reality, while there were 6 people on that log, only 3-4 were truly carrying it. In addition to the log, they were also carrying the other 2-3 people that weren't pulling their own weight.
I got a chance to realize all of this when they made the lie detector log. This particular log had six different small logs connected by a chain therefore each person had to carry their own. Under this log, there was no hiding and therefore they got exposed.
While team is very important, you must first be a good individual with maximum accountability. Make sure when you are pulled from the team and put on the lie detector that you are not the weakest link!
Never hide amongst the strong pillars in your team. Make sure you work your ass off to be one of them! Stay hard!"

38 miles last week! Had the chance to run with some incoming freshmen along with some other girls from the team so that was super fun! Easy tempos going well so far!
0 miles, but 6 hours and 30 minutes biking, and 1 hour and 20 minutes swimming, plus a lot of strength/core/recovery. Going to Miami with Hannah this week to see Abby so I'm super excited about that! Hopefully, I can get some swimming done in the ocean instead of a miserable little pool!
47 miles last week. Both tempos were pretty good and I started some light strength on Tuesday and Friday that got me a little sore. In Arkansas this week and I’ll be in Colorado for the rest of July starting next week!! So excited!
46 miles last week. Also, tons of stretching everyday and I made myself do some core even though it’s my least favorite! So happy I am finally approaching higher mileage again but also being cognizant of how my hamstring feels in the process. Had a great time doing the long-run with some of the squad!!!
52 miles last week. 2 tempos, excited for a month of serious training in CO next month.
36 miles last week with one tempo. Had a very interesting series of events. Slightly strained my calf early on in the week and took a day off to let it heal. The day I get back to running, I get a fever with chills, gnarly headache, muscle aches, the whole nine yards. Went to get a COVID test, which came back negative, but the doctor sent me to the ER to get checked for meningitis. After 7 hours and a spinal tap at the ER, everything came back clean, but the medication and spinal tap soreness kept me from running long run on Sunday. Was feeling pretty bad, so I ran long run today instead. Still not feeling 100%, but finally back on the right track. Leaving for Colorado tomorrow!
I love David Goggins. His autobiography is the best I’ve ever read. I’ve been blown away watching the Olympic Trials too. Bria looked amazing. 51 miles last week. Got to do my long run with the UF team which was a lot of fun.
Oh and good luck to Zack at Brooks PR. You’re going to take souls.
38 miles, 1 hour of cross-training, & strength last week! Loving these easy tempos :)
29 miles last week and 2 tempos! My first tempo runs back since track season. I biked today to cross train!
51 miles last week. I've really been enjoying running in a way that I had lost for a while. The tempos are tough, but every one is getting better than the last which is really encouraging. I also found a Beltline-esque trail in my city that has been great for tempos. Minor aches and pains have been popping up here and there, so I should probable start being more aggressive about recovery.
55 miles last week, feeling my Achilles on Saturday and Sunday so i moved my long run and went for a decent swim. 1 (and a half?) tempos last week as the Tuesday trail i went to to do it was overgrown and rooty so it was hard to run fast, but Friday did 8k at 6:00 pace with henrik, Dave, and harrison
52 miles last week. Leaving for Colorado in the morning so very excited for this next month of training. Tempos are going well and the other runs feel good as well
46 miles last week. Great tempo with Leif as well as some hill strides. Feeling fit and strong going into elevation training. First day in Utah was 102 degrees and very arid, proving to be a very different beast from humidity. Looking forward to the cooler air in Colorado. Only good things on the rise!
8.5 (ish) miles last week + 6hrs of biking + lots of core/strength. I got news from my most recent bone scan that my fracture is healed, and I'm cleared to start back! The past few runs have been a combination of walking and running, but I'm looking forward to some short, consistent runs this week. I'm so excited to get back into training and finish up the summer with a lot of focus and patience. I'm in southern Utah for the rest of this week and then fly out to Colorado Springs for all of July! :)
25 miles last week. Easy tempo on Tuesday was relaxed and smooth, and I am excited to do another one tomorrow. Things are starting to feel consistent again
44 miles last week. Tuesday's easy tempo was awesome. Friday's was rough, probably because I started too quick and because of the heat (going to start running earlier in the day). Came back for a great 11-miler yesterday though. The fitness is definitely there, and my nutrition and sleep are much better than previous summers as well. Definitely jealous of the Colorado squad but looking forward to training with a bunch of aerobic monsters once they're back.
Colin got his training plan from the VT coach, and it looks like he'll be able to hop in some easy tempos with me. We're both running the Peachtree on Sunday. I certainly won't go all out since we've only recently started workouts, but I'd like to nab a top 100 finish (was 105th in 2018). Past year results say that should be doable just by holding 5:40s. Mostly just looking to have fun.
47 miles last. Groin has been feeling better. Overall pretty good week.
46 miles last week with 40 mins aqua jogging. Tues tempo on track and first friday tempo on treadmill. Feeling good!
28 miles last week!! Really enjoyed running tempos with teammates :) I'm rediscovering that love I always had for running! Sadly, I have to take a week off due to some overuse/ tightness, but it's beneficial in the long run! Biking, elliptical work and swimming for this week, and I'll be strong soon!! Olympic trials gave me a little extra motivation
51 miles last week and 2.5 hours of Peloton. Had some great tempos with Mac and Jackson and ran with some of the incoming freshmen. Trials were awesome to watch all week.
3 miles last week! Had a little bit of tightness in my legs but some biking and yoga helped with that. Sunday was my last run with Nicole before she moves to Boston which was very bittersweet (mainly bitter :( ). Excited to add some more miles in this week! I am heading down to Florida this weekend and already dreading the heat.
22 Miles last week. First time posting this summer but its been really fun so far! Enjoyed seeing teammates at the river on Sunday. Knee pain from the end of the season seemed to resolve itself so I'm hoping to stay happy and healthy as I build up my volume.
38 miles last week and some solid tempos with Sam! I’ve been running on the biscayne bridge a few times a week to get in some good hills and also been doing lots of biking and kayaking. MK and Hannah are coming to visit me this week and I can’t wait :))
40 miles this past week with some biking and core. I am in Maryland visiting family so I got to check out some new trails:)
32 miles last week. Off by a-lot this week, but it was only on a 4 day. Times like this though, gonna try to not to “make up” lost mileage and just keep the same momentum of training. Had some issues with overtraining habits in the past but gonna use this summer to fix em all. In all, solid week of running.
Just figured out how to work this thing but I haven't been over 25 mpw in a while. I normally would've ended my HS season 6 weeks ago, so it has been tough to stay motivated and train without teammates. I never thought I would make it to July without a break since December. Quality miles over quantity has helped me. I actually was in bed for the past 5 days straight with a concussion (long story) but I'm better now and can't wait for Brooks PR with Zack! T-4 days till race day!!!
About 17 miles last week along with lots of walking and 2 hours of biking. My heel is feeling great, I'm so happy to be back to running and am excited to continue building a strong base this summer! I definitely miss having people to run with though :')
30 miles this week. The two tempos felt great. It was super fun to meet up with some ladies on the team and put in the work together!
29 miles and I have been loving biking lately to cross train as well! It was great meeting up with some of the girls at the river to get in our long run together. Also the 2 tempos last week felt smooth.
47 miles last week and 1 tempo due to traveling around California but excited to get back into the routine this week and get back to ga soon
39 miles last week ! Got to run with a bunch of people on the team this week so that was fun and the easy tempos have felt good !
42 Miles last week, Tempos are going well. Definitely a little tight, David and I crushed a 5 mile tempo on the 2k loop, tuesday and then as well on friday but with Harrison and Knox. Getting back in to it *Bricks emoji*
Unfortunately out of running with my stress fracture. I have been doing cross training doubles everyday of at least an hour of biking and 30minutes-1 hour of swimming. I have also really been focusing on doing core, glute, and hamstrings exercises. Staying positive and reminding myself that I can still get better even if its in cross training form. If I am smart I can come back strong and can hopefully run in August.
I got in 35.5 miles last week. My two workouts were 6 400’s at 58 seconds avg and then 12 200’s at 27 high/ 28 low avg. I also ran my last workout today before Brooks Pr on Friday with Riley! Can’t wait to be running with the team this year
About 5 miles last week (until I sprained my ankle mid run) and 7 hours of cross training split between the Air Dyne and a normal stationary bike. I also focused a lot on core this week. My ankle is looking and feeling a lot better so the hope is that I'll be able to start runs again at the end of this week.
40 miles last week
44 miles last week with 2 tempos. Got some good running with Ethan, Mac, Devin over the week and a Kennesaw long run with Leif. I'm really excited to be head out to Colorado for a really solid block of training.
36 miles last week and 90 minutes of aqua jogging and biking. Excited for some nicer weather in Maine this next week
50 miles and two tempos last week- one on my own and one with Voss at the river. Think we did a good job of finding the right effort which makes me excited to start doing more of these. Posting this from Kansas City as we are about to begin our month in Colorado Springs tomorrow!!
Sorry for the late post. 44 miles last week along with two tempo runs. The effort on the tempos have been perfect and just enough for right now, and my core routine has been going well. This weeks already been going well and I’m feeling good still!
35 miles this week! Been working but doesn’t feel like work which is great! I also only go into the office for a couple of hours so I can run in the morning and enjoy summer in the afternoon! Lots of runs with Ashley, hope she doesn’t get sick of me!
32 miles last week. Lots of traveling got back from Hawaii on Monday then road trip to colo sprigs the following two days. Did my first workout this summer with David in Lawrence Kansas hurt a bit wasn’t too bad.
Mahalo
24 miles plus an hour of biking. back still hurting, going to see a spine specialist next Wednesday.
19 miles this week. Took it slow and easy to get back into running. Have been sore from weight training but that’s it
